The West Virginia Family Wellness Center is Massey Energy's latest addition to its already superior healthcare package for Massey Members and their families.
Massey Energy leased the center to Madison Medical, PLLC, an established, independent physician group. The facility opened for patients on April 11, 2005. Madison Medical is operating the facility as The West Virginia Family Wellness Center.
Don L. Blankenship, Chairman and CEO of Massey, said, "At a time when many employers are forced to cut medical benefits because of escalating health care costs, we're taking an innovative approach by providing Massey members with unparalleled access to medical care."
The West Virginia Family Wellness Center is a comprehensive medical center unlike any other facility in southern West Virginia. Lab work, x-rays and cardiac testing will be done on site. The wellness center has embraced state- of-the-art technology as a means to improve patient safety and the quality of healthcare for both Massey members and the community in general.
Blankenship noted that, as the name implies, the facility will focus on preventative care for the whole family.
| In addition, unlike most traditional medical offices, the Center has a large community room where patients can attend classes on issues affecting their health such as diabetes, weight loss, fitness, smoking cessation, and stroke and heart attack prevention. |  |
